Michelle Obama has a clear message to Silicon Valley — ban President Donald Trump and stop others from abusing their platforms.

In what has been a whirlwind of the first full week of 2021, former First Lady Michelle Obama makes it clear that there is no room for bias in this nation moving forward after pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capital building on Wednesday resulting in multiple injuries and five deaths.

According to TechCrunch, specifically, she calls on Silicon Valley to address its role in the chaos that took place in reference to the bias treatment of pro-Trump fanatics versus the mostly peaceful Black Lives Matter demonstrations that took place during the past summer.

“Now is the time for companies to stop enabling this monstrous behavior — and go even further than they have already by permanently banning this man from their platforms and putting in place policies to prevent their technology from being used by the nation’s leaders to fuel insurrection,” wrote Obama in a statement that she has since shared to Facebook and Twitter.

Obama was sure to call out the minuscule actions most social platforms have already taken in response to the mayhem that took place this week at the nation’s capital.

While Facebook has banned Trump, it leaves room for further destruction. Although the platform described the term as “indefinitely,” they did leave the floor open for his return with the possibility of restoring his accounts in two weeks once president-elect Joe Biden assumes the presidency.

On the other hand, Twitter initially removed the three disturbing tweets by Trump, but shared that his account would be restored 12 hours following their deletion (What help is that?).

Other platforms like Shopify removed Trump’s official merchandise stores and Twitch has disabled his channel until the end of his term.
