Lizzo bares it all for her latest partnership with Dove to send a moving message about self-confidence.

Glossy reports that the Grammy-winning singer and queen of body-positivity teamed up with the beauty brand for its ongoing Self Esteem Project — a campaign that aims to “transform social media into a more positive and empowering place for the next generation,” according to the brand.

The ongoing brand campaign acts as a platform to encourage parents to have the “selfie talk” with their children by advising them to use social media in a way that doesn’t negatively impact their mental health.

According to research for Dove’s 2020 Self-Esteem Project, “80% of girls have already applied a filter or used an app to change the way they look in their photos by the time they are 13,” Black Enterprise reports. Now the brand is looking to change that.

“Social media is a big part of young people’s lives — but retouching apps and the pressure to post the ‘perfect selfie’ are hurting their self-esteem and confidence,” the brand says. “Have the selfie talk with a girl you love to reverse the damage and celebrate real beauty.”

Lizzo announced her newest partnership with Dove in an Instagram post that revealed an unrefined nude photo with the caption, “I wanna give y’all this unedited selfie… now normally I would fix my belly and smooth my skin but baby I wanted show u how I do it au natural.”

“I am excited to be partnering with @dove and the #DoveSelfEsteemProject which is helping to reverse the negative effects of social media and changing the conversation about beauty standards,” she adds.

Lizzo herself has been very candid about her journey with self-confidence and has been recognized as an advocate that encourages others to love themselves just as they are, without giving into the stipulations on social media.

“People are struggling with their self-image and self-confidence more than ever,” she shared in a press release. “This is amplified by the increasing pressure to show a digitally distorted version of ourselves, reinforcing the idea that our beauty in real life is not good enough or worthy of likes.”

As far as her own journey is concerned, the “Truth Hurts” singer is looking forward to balancing out fame and her own image with healthier social media practices.

“If I’m going to continue to live in this body and survive in this body, and be happy and actually enjoy life, I need to find a way to like myself,” she tells Glossy.
