Hip-Hop’s Run The Jewels, comprised of Killer Mike and El-P, are making entrepreneurial moves as a duo with their new craft beer.

Run The Jewels’ three new beer collaborations is a partnership with Black-owned breweries including Proximity Brewing, Spaceway Brewing and Green Bench Brewing Co., to expand their brand.

The group is currently collaborating with over 20 breweries from all over the world to create their quality beer. Their first ale “Stay Gold” started their track record off at a solid ranking as it was voted 2017’s “IPA of the Year” by Draft Magazine.

According to Pitchfork, each beer — “Never Look Back,” “All Due Respect” and “Blockbuster Night Pt.1” — are named after Run The Jewels’ songs.

Plus, partial proceeds from “Never Look Back” will go to Beer Kulture — a nonprofit working to increase diversity, equity and inclusion in the craft beer industry. In addition, partial proceeds from “All Due Respect” will go toward Blacktoberfest, where Black-owned establishments gather for the event. It’s also the location for the beer’s release. Half of the revenue from “Blockbuster Night Pt.1” is set for local Pittsburgh charities.

“Blockbuster Night Pt.1” will be released at the Barrel and Flow Fest — the nation’s first Black beer festival — on Sept. 10, and Tavour.com as part of DigiFlow, the virtual coverage of the festival.

According to Pitchfork, Run The Jewels has a cold brew coffee, in collaboration with Chicago’s Dark Matter, in the works that will also be added to their beverages as well.

This Black-owned breweries collaboration isn’t anything new for Killer Mike who has been actively pursuing ventures that champion Black-owned businesses as a whole. As AfroTech previously reported, last year the rapper was one of the power players behind the launch of Greenwood — a Black-owned digital bank — which aims to help Black entrepreneurs and Black-owned small businesses.
