Cue the “Dinner With Jay-Z” jokes. Bow Wow recently took to Instagram to credit Hova with providing him with a much-needed financial literacy mindset.

“We gotta start teaching the youth early about credit and how important it is,” he wrote in the story, per HotNewHipHop. “It’s cool to have cash, but with good credit … man the world is yours! Nothing like looking at all 3 scores and you a 730 or better!!!! Learn the importance of having good credit! Trust me.” He then credited Jay-Z’s “4:44” album with providing him with the blueprint, because “I ain’t never looked back.”

As fans of the album are aware, the themes in “4:44” include building generational wealth and leaving a legacy to your children — which, incidentally, are the same types of themes that Black women like The Budgetnista talk about in their financial literacy books. But, hey, however you get your knowledge is fine — as long as you get your knowledge in the first place.

Bow Wow fans will note that he’s a rapper who walks the walk and talks the talk. Since 2017, he’s been a main cast member on “Growing Up Hip-Hop: Atlanta,” and he maintains a net worth of $1.5 million. Though he doesn’t get involved on the music side of things anymore, he’s been smart with his professional — and money — moves.

And, he said, he does it for only one reason: to spend time with his daughter.

“At the end of the day, I want to spend time with my daughter, and this schedule enables me to do that while still having fun hosting ‘106 Park,’” he said, back when he was hosting the popular television show. “I’m not really eager to get back into music just yet; I’m really eager to get into another movie before I put out an album.”
