Apple’s is launching a new partnership with Dream Corps, an Oakland based non-profit working to solve social justice issues and provide opportunities to minorities and marginalized groups.

Dream Corps was founded by CNN’s Van Jones in 2015 as a multi-issue organization that combines social justice, environmental activism, criminal justice reform and tech education.

The organization launched its #YesWeCode program to provide underrepresented communities with access to tech jobs at major companies around the country. Apple is partnering with the initiative to provide curriculum, technology and professional support to #YesWeCode cohorts. Apple will train cohorts to use its Swift programming language.

“I see Dream Corps as a peace corps for the American Dream,” Dream Corps CEO Vien Truong said in a press release. “It’s about making sure that we can help support people who lived or grew up in communities like mine. And this partnership with Apple will help unlock the untapped genius and talent within those communities, which will allow a new generation to achieve their dreams.”

According to TechCrunch, Dream Corps is currently working with the City of Oakland to find a space dedicated to the training and programs.

The joint program is set to launch in the Bay Area later this year.
