There’s a new leader in town rising in the tech world, and the Ghanaian native is repping for Africa and women around the world.

Technology giant, IBM Corporation has just elected Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh as its Regional Head for North, East and West Africa, making her the first woman and African to be up for such a position in the company, Face 2 Face Africa reports.

The seasoned business professional is skilled in Business Planning, Banking, Business Development, Strategic Planning, and Marketing Strategy.

Within her newly-appointed position, Kyerematen-Jimoh will be responsible for operations in over 40 countries in Africa, according to Face 2 Face Africa, including Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, Ghana, and Tunisia.

“I am exceptionally proud of Angela. Her dedication and commitment to her work is unwavering. She has all our support and I know she will make this a huge success story. We welcome her back to Africa,” East Africa Business Mogul and founder of Centum Investment, Chris Kirubi said.

Before her promotion, Kyerematen-Jimoh worked as Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President in charge of Global Markets and Sales at IBM’s corporate headquarters in New York.

Kyerematen-Jimoh first joined IBM in 2011 as Marketing Manager for the West Africa Market Segment and went on to become the Strategy Leader for Central East and West Africa, Face 2 Face Africa reports.

The Harvard Business grad also previously worked for UBS Investment Bank and ABN AMRO Bank in London. Then she worked at Guarantee Trust Bank Ghana before taking her talents to IBM.

She is a celebrated leader in the business world, receiving countless awards including the U.S. African Women Forum’s Global Impact Leadership Award, African Achievers Awards for Excellence in Business, and was also has named one of Africa’s most influential women by Avance Media.

For years, IBM has made many contributions leading Africa to be a more technologically-advanced place in society. Now, Kyerematen-Jimoh joins the company’s movement to continue to invest in the future of Africa.
