Several salon owners have been awarded a grant from Beyoncé. As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the singer’s BeyGood foundation, in collaboration with her newly launched haircare line, Cécred, established a $500,000 annual fund. The initiative supports hairstylists in Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; and New Jersey who meet specified criteria: They must be licensed for at least two years; have been in business for a minimum of one year; lease or own a suite, booth, or chair; and face financial hardship, according to the foundation’s website. Tyga has yet another lawsuit on his hands, and this time around it’s with Vans. According to Hypebeast, the rapper teamed up with sneaker brand MSCHF for their “Wavy Baby” sneakers. REVOLT reports that the West Coast rapper plans to give underprivileged communities access to mental health resources through his TeleHealth Van program alongside founder and co-owner, Dion Rambo; partner, Todd Gurley; and the City of Hawthorne. “TeleHealth Van is a service that we created for the people in the inner-cities,” said YG during an interview with TMZ during the summer. “It works like—you basically don’t leave your house if you got a mental health situation or got doctors you need to talk to. The van comes to your location and you get in the van—it’s basically like doing a Zoom call. Now after over 17,000 entrepreneurs have applied for the grant program, one lucky business has announced themselves as one of the recipients.
