Beyoncé's Cécred x BeyGood Fund Announces Its First-Ever Scholarships And Grants Awardees

Beyoncé’s Cécred is looking to make an impact outside of just the haircare industry. As previously shared by AFROTECH™, the technology-backed company launched in February 2024. Testing was a big proponent in bringing the haircare line that’s “validated by science” to life. “Every hair texture deserves testing, research and development,” Beyoncé told Essence for its March/April 2024 cover story. “Black women in general are the last to be included in testing. We are often prescribed things based on studies we were not included in. It’s bigger than me, or hair. Now we have created something that celebrates healthy hair for all women, including us. I’m always honored to invest in us.” Within the same month of Cécred’s launch, BeyGood, Beyoncé’s public charity foundation, announced its Cécred x BeyGood Fund. According to its website, the annual $500,000 fund was created to give back to professional hairstylists for the impactful work they bring to their respective communities. “Fostering...

However, the collaboration has now backfired as Vans has filed a lawsuit against the creative duo for “trademark infringement, false designation of origin and unfair competition, in addition to trademark dilution.” “MSCHF, in collaboration with Mr. Stevenson, has shamelessly marketed the Wavy Baby shoe in a direct effort to confuse consumers, unlawfully siphon sales from Vans, and intentionally damage Vans’ valuable intellectual property rights,” the lawsuit stated, Hypebeast reports. “The Wavy Baby shoe blatantly and unmistakably incorporates Vans’ iconic trademarks and trade dress.” Even with the lawsuit on his hands, Tyga went on to share his excitement via Twitter over the sneaker release reportedly selling out within ten minutes. The Inventor Behind The First-Of-Its-Kind Hygiene Machine Using Data To Dispense Organic Products For Free

This founder is making feminine care accessible for all. Arion Long, who sometimes refers to herself as the “Chief Estrogen Officer” is the heart and brain behind Femly. The company — founded in 2016 — has become a powerhouse shaking up a multi-billion dollar industry while revolutionizing feminine care. Arion Long was compelled to launch the brand after a health scare shortly following her time in college. She experienced weight gains, abnormal mood changes, and pain in her ovaries. After several visits to obstetrician-gynecologists, Arion Long was told she had a cervical tumor. Her doctor believed chemicals found in popular feminine care products were a likely cause. “We assume because some of these pads are white, that they’re clean. That is so far from the truth. Historically, many of the popular pad brands were made with synthetic materials like nylon, which is known for harboring heat and bacteria. The other side of that is many of these pads included ingredients like...

You get in the van and you see your mental health worker or [doctor] over the screen, and y’all have y’all session.” The initiative also includes three 5G-enabled vans that will “physically transport internet-connected telecommunications, teleconferencing, and video-conferencing devices and services/computer applications” to underserved locations....

How Tyga's Surprising Business Ventures Gave Him A $5M Net Worth

Born Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson in Los Angeles, CA, Tyga seemed destined for greatness at an early age. Although he initially claimed to have been born & raised in Compton and, later, Gardena, TMZ eventually revealed that the rapper — whose name is an acronym for “Thank You God, Always” — was actually born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, and his parents were relatively well off. Still, it’s not where you come from, but where you’re going. And where Tyga went was straight to the top. He first made his mark in the music industry in 2009, when his music was licensed to the video games “Need for Speed: Undercover” and “Madden NFL 2009.” He even did some work with his cousin, Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes. But from his early days as part of the Young Money collective to his current business ventures that include some surprising forms of income, Tyga has always stayed booked and busy. And while Hip-Hop aficionados may be divided on the quality of his music, they can’t deny...

Meet the Ugandan-American Software Engineer Who Co-Developed the Apple Watch Series 6 Blood Oxygen Monitor

Thanks to a team of software engineers at Apple led by Dr. Jeofrey Kibuule — Software Engineer, Health at Apple — the company has a new life-saving feature, reports Face2Face Africa. Apple’s newly-released Apple Watch Series 6 comes with a special feature — a blood oxygen saturation monitor. The new blood oxygen app allows users to measure the oxygen level of their blood-on-demand directly from their wrist, ultimately providing them with insights into their overall wellness, per Apple. For users, the new feature comes right on time with many COVID-19 patients having had low blood oxygen levels. “During a blood oxygen measurement, the back crystal [under the wrist watch] shines red and green LEDs and infrared light onto your wrist,” said Apple in a statement on their website.”Photodiodes then measure the amount of light reflected back. Advanced algorithms use this data to calculate the colour of your blood. The colour determines your blood oxygen level — bright red blood has more...
