Nipsey Hussle’s mantra , “The marathon continues,” lives on through his older brother, Blacc Sam, who has opened a restaurant near the late rapper’s Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles, CA . Blacc Sam — born Samiel Asghedom — is the permanent administrator of his brother’s estate. In an interview with CBS News Los Angeles, he said Marathon Burger, which had its grand opening on March 1, 2025, reflects Nipsey Hussle’s dedication to uplifting the community around him. “I think [the] Marathon brand, created by Hussle, was kind of like to inspire and to just motivate, and it just means to keep going,” he said. “It’s not a race, it’s a pace, do it on your own. …Anything that we can continue doing in that spirit is always a blessing.” Marathon Burger, located on Melrose Avenue, serves its famous Wagyu beef burgers and wings. The restaurant also offers vegan-friendly options such as a plant-based burger, a portobello mushroom burger, and a grilled vegetable salad. View this post on...
Wu-Tang Clan’s “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” could have an earlier release date thanks to non-fungible token (NFT) collective PleasrDAO. In 2015, the legendary Hip-Hop group auctioned off only one physical copy of their seventh studio album, and former “pharma bro” Martin Shkreli reportedly bought it for $2 million, according to The New York Times. PleasrDAO then acquired the album for $4 million in 2021 from the U.S. government after Shkreli was convicted of securities fraud. Previously, Wu-Tang Clan’s sales contract with Shkreli stated that “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” was prohibited from being publicly released until Oct. 8, 2103, which was 88 years into the future. However, the album isn’t as inaccessible now. The New York Times reports that on June 13, PleasrDAO started giving listeners access to a five-minute sampler of an encrypted digital version, an NFT, for $1 in addition to fees. The collective stated it was part of an experiment and posed the question: “Do people still...
Founder Mateus Chipa wants the Black community to be more involved in space exploration. According to a Scripps News report of the 360 astronauts enlisted with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), just 18 had been Black astronauts as of Feb 5, 2024. For Chipa, he believed that to increase representation and empowerment it would be necessary for an influential Black entrepreneur to launch a company to break down barriers. According to his website, he waited eight years for Black leaders to step forward. In frustration after that time had passed, he decided to take matters into his own hands and established Theby Space Services (TSS) , a Black-owned private rocket company. “TSS came in a place of a lot of frustration, a lot of accountability and responsibility…For the last 10 years, I’ve been frustrated because I haven’t seen any Black nation or individual talking about going in a space,” Chipa said in a video shared on YouTube. “I’ve been asking myself why? Why...
T-Pain has officially announced his participation in the much-anticipated “Grand Theft Auto VI” (“GTA VI”) for Playstation and Xbox. The game is projected to release in 2025 and already has gamers on their feet following the first trailer drop in December 2023. According to a press release, the game will be “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.” While there are still mysteries surrounding the latest series, there is a new revelation that was dropped by artist T-Pain. He shares he is involved in the makings of “GTA IV,” but it has come at a cost. Rockstar Games, the video game company behind “Grand Theft Auto,” is no longer allowing T-Pain to role-play on NoPixel, a popular server for “Grand Theft Auto V.” IGN reports T-Pain has been gaming on the NoPixel server since 2021, and now fans have taken note that he is no longer active on the server. “I used to be on NoPixel. Then I started working on the f-cking, on GTA VI, and they told me I couldn’t...
Nipsey Hussle’s dream behind his Marathon clothing store — launched in 2017 — was unfortunately deferred after his untimely passing. But with the support of his family, the marathon continues! The late rapper’s legacy will keep living on with the upcoming opening of “The Marathon Clothing store No 2” in Los Angeles later this year. The Guardian reports that Hussle’s older brother, Samiel Asghedom, and his family purchased commercial property in the Melrose arts district in LA for the clothing brand. “This second location is a dream that Nipsey always had, and it’s important that his kids are able to see his plans fulfilled,” said Asghedom. The news comes in after a report of the LAPD using predictive policing technology to target Hussle and his businesses. AfroTech previously shared the force’s history of their alleged harassment and scrutinizing his every move — especially after the opening of the flagship store for his brand.
The marathon continues with another brand collaboration. Nipsey Hussle’s prolific legacy continues to live on through his staple clothing brand, The Marathon Clothing, which just announced that it has once again joined forces with PUMA to unveil their latest collection. According to Hypebeast, the new collection — which includes a crisp PUMA Suede sneaker and a special t-shirt — was “crafted to represent Hussle’s enduring spirit and legacy.” The collection also features a plethora of gold foil embellishments of The Marathon Clothing’s logo as well as a tag explaining the brand’s lengthy mission statement and intention as a company.
