Dwayne Johnson decided to fire his agents because he saw the bigger picture. Johnson first put his name on the map as a professional wrestler, inspired by his father, Rocky Johnson, who had a legendary resume within the sport and was honored as a WWE Hall of Famer. “I think I’m going to like professional wrestling,” Johnson remembered, according to a conversation with GQ. “So we fought. [My dad] didn’t want me to get into it. And then I wound up having the career that I had. And he was proud. But he also wrestled with a lot of my success, and I know that as his son.” Johnson would later find a commonality between wrestling and acting. He revealed to GQ that he pivoted attention towards Hollywood, understanding that he could still reach the masses as an actor. “When I got into the business of Hollywood and moviemaking, it’s like, ‘Okay, well, what kind of movies do I want to make? I want to make movies that hopefully are good, that don’t suck. But also reach as many people as...
Udonis Haslem understood the power of collaboration as an NBA player, and he is carrying those learning lessons to improve underserved communities. The Miami, FL, native entered the league as a free agent in 2003 and remained with the Miami Heat throughout his 20-year career. He won three national championship rings and would be seen as a well-respected veteran on the team, even leading former players LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh — known as the Big 3— to take pay cuts to keep him on the Miami Heat roster in 2010, as AFROTECH™ previously reported. “When I talk about LeBron James and Dwayne Wade and being a part of that process, that’s one thing that I was able to understand, it’s that even though we were friends, we respect people for who they are and what they are. You know what I mean?” Haslem said on the “Black Tech Green Money” podcast. “ And LeBron, Dwyane, they already respect me for who I was and what I was. They were Southeast guys. I was a Miami guy. They were...

Dwayne Johnson is working toward another win for his tequila brand. Dwayne Johnson, better known by his professional wrestler name, “The Rock,” is an actor and the proud owner of Teremana Tequila, a spirits venture he co-founded in 2020. Within its first year in business, it found immediate success. As AFROTECH™ previously reported, it was on track to sell over 300,000 nine-liter cases. Forbes notes that this accomplishment set a new record in the spirits industry. “I am so grateful and humbled to receive this mind blowing news – but I’m in this for the long term, and my goal is to build a MANA fueled legacy for generations of Johnson’s,” Johnson said, at the time, on an Instagram post. Since then, the American oak barrel-aged tequila brand has continued to reach new heights. In June 2023, detailed by AFROTECH™, the company had sold one million cases in one year, an achievement shared by just 10 other tequila brands. “The launch of Teremana Tequila has been an unprecedented and...
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is paid . Celebrity Net Worth reveals that the wrestler-turned-actor and entrepreneur has a net worth of more than $800 million — and, like many celebrities, part of that net worth comes from how much he gets paid from making sponsored social media posts. What’s most impressive, however, is that this net worth has doubled in less than a year. It’s no secret that The Rock gets paid quite a handsome sum of money — and that’s because he has a tequila company called Teremana Tequila. He is also one of the top-paid actors in Hollywood today — and one of only four Black men on the list. And he also owns a football league, for which he paid $15 million to own. View this post on Instagram A post shared by therock (@therock) But how much does he get paid per Instagram post? A recent report from HopperHQ revealed that the top-paid Instagram stars aren’t who you think they might be. “Cristiano Ronaldo scores the top spot in the list for the second year running,...

The PR4 training shoe is the “crown jewel” of this new collection, and it retails for $150. There’s also a women’s line that’s in line with the men’s offerings, as well, under the imprint. This is just the latest in a long line of business deals for Dwayne Johnson, who also recently purchased the pro football league, XFL, for $15 million. He also purchased the Teremana Tequila brand, which made history in December 2020 for its record-breaking sales. “Our entire Teremana team and I are quite pleased and humbled that the brand is experiencing this incredible, off-the-charts success,” he said, according to AfroTech’s recent report. “But we also recognize there’s so much more work to be done. We’re building a mana fueled legacy brand and I’m in it for the long...
