Black excellence has no age limit, even the youngest of all are setting out to achieve academic excellence. Physics student Carson Huey-You is history in the making at 17-year-old, as the youngest to receive both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas Christian University, Face 2 Face Africa reports . Huey-You has always been a young genius with a passion for STEM, studying algebra at the tender age of 5. “I’ve known since I was young that I wanted to do physics,” he told Fort Worth Star-Telegram . “It started when I was watching ‘Bill Nye the Science Guy’ when I was home-schooled. There was never any question about it, no going back and forth with things like ‘I want to be a doctor’ to ‘I want to be a physicist,’ to ‘I want to be a firefighter.’” Despite being the youngest in his classes, rarely anyone ever gave Huey-You trouble about his age. “Everyone has always treated me as a peer,” he said to the news outlet. “There have, of course, been outliers here and there, but for...

However, his bread and butter is not coming directly from his social media impressions. “I’ll spend 12 hours, 12 days on a f-cking video, and it won’t really make anything. NBA Star Steph Curry And Former First Lady Michelle Obama Team Up To Launch A New Sports Drink That Doesn't Compromise One's Health

Leave it to Steph Curry and Michelle Obama to remind us that health and flavor don’t have to be enemies. The NBA legend and the forever First Lady have teamed up to launch PLEZi Hydration, a new sports drink aiming to do what health gurus allege Gatorade and Powerade never quite pulled off — offer hydration without compromising on health. Born out of Obama’s public benefit company, PLEZi Nutrition, the drink is marketed as a “healthier” option for individuals who want to stay active without consuming excessive sugar and sodium. According to its website, each 16.9-ounce bottle packs only 12 grams of sugar — less than half of what you’d find in traditional sports drinks — plus 500 mg of potassium, 120 mg of sodium (vs. 210 mg), and the full daily dose of vitamin C. And this isn’t a slap-your-name-on-it celebrity endorsement. Both Curry and Obama were deeply involved in creating the drink from the ground up. Based on a CNBC report, Curry helped with everything from the packaging to the...

President Donald Trump Issues 2-Week Deadline For Schools And Universities To End DEI Policies

President Donald Trump has set a strict deadline for schools and universities to revise their DEI policies. AP News reports the Education Department has stated “racial preferences” can no longer be applicable in admissions, financial aid, or hiring. Beginning in 14 days, “educational institutions may neither separate nor segregate students based on race, nor distribute benefits or burdens based on race,” the memo read. “The last thing students need when making plans about how to pay for college is uncertainty over when or whether they will receive financial aid they’ve been relying on,” The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators said in a statement. The mandate was listed in a memo released on Friday, Feb. 14, which was a continuation of Trump’s executive order to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). This included placing federal employees in DEI roles on paid leave per the administration’s agenda to “take steps to close/end all DEIA initiatives,...

Minority-Owned Firms Have Raised Concerns For Contracted Opportunities Following US Election Results

Concerns about the future have intensified as Donald Trump prepares to be sworn in as the 47th U.S. president. The Washington Post reports minority- and women-owned businesses have looming concerns over contracts, citing a potential loss of $70 billion in annual contracts amid legal disputes affecting government programs for “disadvantaged” firms. Within the Black community, legal issues were prevalent amid Fearless Fund’s ongoing litigation, which has now been settled. As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the firm, led by founding partner Arian Simone, was sued by Edward Blum and his American Alliance for Equal Rights group in August 2023 over its Strivers Grant program. The $20,000 grant backed by JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Mastercard had been aimed at small businesses primarily owned by Black women, and the activist group accused the investment firm of “explicit racial exclusion.” The group had already been victorious in the Supreme Court over race-based affirmative action policies....
