Jackson State University in Jackson, MS, will be able to support its students pursuing careers in cybersecurity. According to a news release, the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) has received a $2 million grant from the Entergy Charitable Foundation. To be allocated over several payments, the grant supports the establishment of the Critical Power Grid Network Security Lab, which will provide the launching pad for cybersecurity careers. “I am honored to receive this generous grant on behalf of Jackson State University . A new esports center will be on the way for the Los Angeles community. According to a press release, Riot Games has pledged $2 million to SoLa Impact ’s I CAN Foundation . The commitment will support the completion of SoLa’s Technology and Entrepreneurship Center . The center will provide free technology education to the future generation of Black and brown leaders, entrepreneurs, game developers, and more in South Los Angeles. Industry veteran Angela Roseboro is joining Riot Games as the company’s first ever Chief Diversity Officer, according to an announcement on the company’s website. Roseboro comes to Riot from Dropbox, where she served as the company’s chief diversity officer. Before that, she held a similar role at T. Rowe Price.
