Ghetto Film School (GFS) — the award-winning nonprofit created to help future storytellers by educating, uplifting, and supporting their development — is backed by some of Hollywood’s best including Issa Rae and Yara Shahidi. Meta's Metaverse Culture Series' First Artist In Residence Gabe Gault Is Sharing Black History Through VR

When Mark Zuckerberg first announced the mission for Meta, he made it known that the social platform was “going to be the metaverse.” Since its rebrand, Meta has launched various initiatives to make sure the Black community is represented in the virtual reality space from creatives to entrepreneurs. AfroTech previously reported on the company’s Meta Elevate program, where for its inaugural cohort, Ciara selected 10 Black-owned businesses to receive marketing mentorship from the tech giant. Recently, in timing with Black History Month, Meta launched the Metaverse Culture Series — a year-long virtual reality initiative that aims to collaborate with Black leaders and creators to ultimately create more inclusivity in tech, an Oculus blog post shared. Quality Control Media Holdings Invests In SoundCloud As A Part Of Join Venture To Propel Emerging Artists

Quality Control (QC) is making moves. In a new partnership, Variety reports that SoundCloud will join forces with Solid Foundation, “the management and creative services arm of QC Media Holdings.” As a part of the partnership, too, Quality Control Media Holdings — founded by Quality Control Music founders Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas —  have also made an investment in SoundCloud. “Coach K and P are two of the most influential voices in music, having identified, developed and grown some of the most successful hip-hop acts of our time,” said Eliah Seton, president of SoundCloud, according to Variety. “With this deal, we’re bringing together SoundCloud, the largest A&R source on the planet, with the creative genius of Coach and P.” Quality Control will work alongside Soundcloud to invest in rising artists and help propel their careers by providing them with what they need to thrive. “With our years of ear-to-the-street skills coupled with SoundCloud’s endless stream of...
