When a company begins to grow and expand, it often needs significant capital to support its operations and scale. This is where venture capital funding rounds like Series A, B, and C come into play. Most commonly something startups engage in, these rounds represent distinct stages in a company’s journey, each with its own objectives, investor types, and implications for the business. Why Startups Use Series Funding Series A, B, and C funding rounds are primarily associated with startups because these companies often have innovative ideas but lack the financial resources to scale independently. Startups typically rely on outside investments to accelerate growth, develop new products, and gain a foothold in competitive markets. Unlike established companies, startups usually cannot rely on steady revenue streams or traditional bank loans to fund their expansion. Venture capital funding, offered during these series rounds, fills this gap. In exchange for equity, startups secure the...

When it comes to investment, one of the first key tips you’re likely to receive is the importance of diversification. Usually, there’s a sweet spot of 20-30 different types of stocks spread out over various industries, with other assets like bonds, real estate, and CDs on top of that. Private equity investing can be an excellent way to diversify your portfolio and access opportunities not available in public markets. However, it can also be more complex and risky than traditional investments. In this article, we’ll break down what private equity is and how you can get started with it. What Is Private Equity? Private equity refers to investments made directly in private companies, or in the buyout of public companies, to take them private. These investments typically involve purchasing shares in a company that is not listed on a public stock exchange. Private equity investors aim to increase the value of these companies over time and eventually sell them for a profit. Types Of...
In a world that’s been evolving constantly in the digital realm for as long as most of us can remember, it’s hard to deny the negative impacts smartphones and social media have on our attention span. Users can hardly sit through a 60-second TikTok video , let alone a 20-minute training course for work. Rather than allowing weaponized incompetence and distractibility to seize the day, app developers have been working tirelessly on creating platforms that make retaining knowledge fun and easy again. They’ve dubbed this trend “microlearning,” and while it could simply be a fad, there are clear benefits to challenging your mind in a bite-sized way. What Is Microlearning? Photo by LinkedIn Sales Solutions/Unsplash The concept of microlearning is based on the forgetting curve , which comes from Hermann Ebbinghaus. His research demonstrates that “when people take in large amounts of information, retention of what was learned tends to degrade over time.” More specifically, they reportedly...
