These Strategic Interview Questions Uncover Potential Candidates Can't Convey On Their Resumes

Hiring the right person is one of the most critical decisions a company can make. Beyond assessing resumes and cover letters, interviews provide the opportunity to dig deeper into a candidate’s skills, personality, and cultural fit. But not all interview questions are created equal. Strategic questions, carefully crafted to reveal insight beyond surface-level answers, can help identify candidates who will thrive and contribute meaningfully to your organization. These strategic interview questions are designed to uncover true potential, problem-solving ability, work ethic, and alignment with company values. They go beyond the usual “tell me about yourself” and “what are your strengths” formats and encourage candidates to share real-world examples, thought processes, and reflections. Questions To Gauge Problem-Solving Skills Understanding how a candidate approaches challenges reveals their critical thinking and resilience. Judge Compels Kaiser Permanente to Release Documents in Better Technologies Group Lawsuit

Better Life Technologies Group, Inc. — a Black-owned wearable biotechnology company based in San Diego, CA — recently received a favorable ruling in an ongoing $50 million lawsuit against Kaiser Permanente (KP). The 2017 lawsuit accuses the California-based healthcare giant of misappropriating its confidential, proprietary information. According to the lawsuit, in 2012, Better Life Technologies participated in a series of meetings with KP, with the hope of advancing its wireless wearable biotech devices designed to assist in the management of critical diseases. At that time, ViQual Medical Technology, a subsidiary of Better Life Technologies, signed a nondisclosure agreement, preventing KP from disclosing any patent information related to its products. The lawsuit states that while KP and Better Life Technologies did not eventually collaborate, KP went on to reveal lucrative, protected trade secrets to competing entities and received a substantial profit through those...

The Road to Capital Funding as A Woman of Color in Tech

“You know you’ve picked the hardest issue to solve, right?” Those were the words from a potential investor after I completed a funding pitch for my company Patientory. His response wasn’t new to me. I knew healthcare was broken from my previous experience of working in a digital healthcare startup. Any healthcare entrepreneur should be aware of the amount of time (years) needed to invest in an innovative healthcare product and see it through. After figuring this out, I prepared for the long haul. It’s very different when you experience it, versus when you just observe it. However, what I did know for sure was that I was up for the challenge. I also knew this pitch wasn’t my first and it wouldn’t be my last. I created Patientory to empower consumers with an application they can use to improve their overall health and well-being. Coupled with an enterprise solution that can integrate electronic medical records, through personal experience and research, I realized healthcare that’s...

Bernard J. Tyson: The Leader, The Icon, The Man

The world was dealt a dizzying blow on Sunday as Bernard J. Tyson — Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente — passed away in his sleep. To say this news hit me hard would be an incredible understatement. Just a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure and privilege of interviewing Mr. Tyson . I was left in awe of not only his accomplishments but also his genuine passion for serving his customers and community. Who Was Bernard J. Tyson? Mr. Tyson’s passion for health care began when he was a little boy. He admired the doctors who cared for his mother during her illness and was also inspired by the way they cared for his family as a whole. The experience made him want to become a doctor, but he later found his true calling in health care administration. He studied the health care system during both his undergraduate and graduate programs. Post-graduation, his career took a trajectory which many of us can only aspire to as he served in all major aspects of Kaiser Permanente’s health care...
