Jamaica’s largest fast-food chain, Juici Patties, is planning a U.S. expansion, with 57 franchise agreements signed and locations set to open by 2027, Black Enterprise reports. Founded in 1980 by Jukie Chin in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica, according to its website, Juici Patties began with one standout product: the Jamaican beef patty, a flaky pastry filled with spiced beef. What started as a teenage side hustle in his mother’s kitchen has become a household name with more than 60 locations across the island today and exports throughout the Caribbean. The chain had already begun branching out into the U.S. market, launching locations in South Florida in 2024 and more recently in Brooklyn and the Bronx, according to Eater. If you own an Anker PowerCore 10000 power bank, now’s the time to check your device. Anker issued a major recall after receiving 19 reports of fires and explosions, pulling more than 1 million units from the market. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), highlights growing concerns about the risks tied to lithium-ion batteries. What Devices Are Being Recalled? Anker’s website states the recall covers PowerCore 10000 power banks (model A1263) sold between June 2016 and December 2022. These portable chargers were widely available online and in stores across the U.S. To check if your device is impacted: Find the serial number on the bottom of your charger. The 2025 World's Black Billionaires List Has Been Released, And Together, All Of Them Are Worth A Combined $96B

Black wealth, especially at the billionaire level, remains a statistical anomaly in global finance. But in 2025, that narrative continues to shift — if only incrementally. According to Forbes, out of 3,028 billionaires worldwide, only 23 are Black, representing less than 1% of the list. Despite this underrepresentation, these 23 individuals collectively hold an impressive $96.2 billion in wealth. The figures tell one story. The names behind them tell another story — one of legacy, innovation, cultural power, and long-game strategy. This year, two notable newcomers joined the global roster of Black billionaires: Sheila Johnson, the media and hospitality powerhouse, and Herriot Tabuteau, a biotech founder with a focus on brain health. Both represent not only financial achievement but industry-specific influence in spaces where Black leadership is often overlooked or underestimated. Who’s New To The 2025 Black Billionaires List? SpaceX’s Starship Explodes Again: What Went Wrong And What’s Next?

For a company that prides itself on pushing the boundaries in space exploration , SpaceX just hit another major roadblock—literally. The highly anticipated test flight of its Starship mega rocket ended in disaster (again) after controllers lost contact with the upper-stage vehicle just minutes into the launch. This marks Starship’s second consecutive failure, raising serious questions: What’s causing these explosions? Has this happened before? And what is SpaceX doing to fix it? Let’s break it all down. Why Did This Happen? According to an NBC News report, the launch kicked off with promise. Near Brownsville, Texas, on Thursday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m. ET, Starship blasted off from SpaceX’s Starbase for its eighth test, soaring toward the skies with the power and spectacle you’d expect from the world’s most advanced rocket. But then—like déjà vu—disaster struck just over eight minutes in. Live video showed the upper-stage vehicle spinning uncontrollably, and within seconds,...

Meet Andrew Black, A James Beard Award-Winning Chef Who Just Opened His Fourth Restaurant

A spirit of curiosity has led Chef Andrew Black to become a James Beard Award-winning chef. Black’s journey traces back to his roots in Jamaica. As a child , he assisted his grandmother by creating outdoor clay ovens to bake roti, a staple flatbread in the country, his website mentions. Pursuing a career as a chef, he later worked in various resort kitchens and eventually left Jamaica to work in restaurants across Europe. He would then receive a nudge to make his way to the United States, notes CBS Mornings. “I wanted to try to find myself where would I fit in, and so I got a call to come to Oklahoma City and I said where the heck is that,” he recalled to the outlet. After initially rejecting the idea of moving to Oklahoma City, he eventually had a change of heart. “When someone see you an Oklahoman shake your hand and say, ‘They’re going to be there,’ they mean it. A word is our bond here. It’s absolutely one of the best state and the best place to live in,” Black told CBS...
