adidas Announces Network That's Said To Offer Over 50,000 Student-Athletes NIL Opportunities

Student-athletes will have yet another opportunity to lock into the name, image, and likeness deals (NILs), thanks to adidas. According to CNBC, the company will support student-athletes at NCAA Division 1 adidas-sponsored schools. Over 50,000 athletes will have a chance to join the program and become paid affiliates for the sports brand. “The adidas NIL network embodies our belief that sport has the power to change lives by upskilling athletes and giving them the ability to begin to experience an entrepreneurial path that will carry them beyond their college years,” said Jim Murphy, adidas NCAA program lead, in a statement. NBA's Giannis Antetokounmpo Joins $27M Series B Round As Strategic Partner For Wave Sports + Entertainment

Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the money! The NBA star joined as a strategic partner for a Series B investment round totaling $27 million for sports media startup Wave Sports + Entertainment, according to a press release. The seed round was led by private equity firm TZP Group. Crossbeam Venture Partners, GPS Investment Partners, Verance Capital, Nimble Ventures, existing investors and more also participated in the round. “WSE is leading the shift to creating digital superfans by engaging audiences where, when, and how they want to consume sports content,” said Shamit Mehta, Partner at TZP Growth Equity, according to a press release. “We believe athletes, leagues, and companies will have a new way to connect with younger audiences through WSE’s successful brands.”

Propel Center To Distribute $1M In Scholarships To HBCU Students Thanks To Support From Apple And Southern Company

The Propel Center will brighten the future of Historically Black College and University (HBCU) students. According to a press release, the HBCU technology and learning hub will partner with Apple and Southern Company to launch its Propel Student Impact Scholarship totaling $1 million in funding. The scholarship program will be geared toward HBCU students pursuing careers in entrepreneurship, arts & entertainment, agri-tech, social justice, and health. Students will not only have a chance to receive $10,000 in scholarships but they will also work directly with Propel Center’s corporate partners for additional learning engagement opportunities.
