Anheuser-Busch Foundation Donates $200K To UNCF To Help HBCU Students Graduate

Thanks to this partnership, students will receive funding to ensure they will reach the finish line at their university. According to a press release, the Anheuser-Busch Foundation has donated $200,000 to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) for the second year in a row. The investment will allocate up to $2,500 for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) who need funding to fulfill their degree requirements. In 2021, 69 students were awarded financial assistance to walk across the graduation stage. “I would like to sincerely thank UNCF and Anheuser-Busch Foundation for the scholarship which enabled me to become a LeMoyne-Owen College graduate,” said Braxton Miller, a biology major at the college, in a statement. “I want to truly thank UNCF and Anheuser-Busch. This Florida teen is already off to a great start! ABC News reports Florida high school student Jonathan Walker applied to 27 schools including Harvard, Stanford, and MIT. The decision to submit various application was to increase his likelihood of attending a top school. Vertical Academy’s Mikey Williams recently landed a deal that could possibly open opportunities for the futures of high school basketball players. On Oct. 29, the 17-year-old — who is eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft — signed a multiyear footwear and apparel endorsement deal with Puma, making him the first American high school basketball player to sign a sneaker deal with a global footwear company, ESPN reports. The former provost of George Washington University has made history by becoming the first Black president of Georgia State University. According to The Savannah Morning News, Dr. M. Brian Blake came to Georgia State University as the former provost and the executive vice president of academic affairs — roles he’s held since 2019. Prior to his work with GSU, Dr. Blake worked at Drexel University as an administrator, a role he also held at the University of Miami and Notre Dame. He began his academic career as a computer science professor at Georgetown after working as a software developer. Dominique Kemp is yet another inspirational story and Black history in the making. The recent graduate of Indiana University is the first Black man in the university’s history to graduate with a Ph.D. in mathematics, Indiana Daily Student (IDS) reports. “I’m interested in problems that connect harmonic analysis with geometry. In particular, decoupling, restriction and Kakeya theory, and Böchner-Riesz are my current focus. I also enjoy exploring applications of decoupling inequalities to problems in number theory and geometry,” he said on his personal statement page. Kemp has co-written three academic papers, all in the field of discrete mathematics. While most two-year-olds are playing with Barbie dolls and having tea parties, two-year-old Kashe Quest of Los Angeles, CA, is making history by becoming the youngest American Mensa member. She just picked up things really fast and she was really interested in learning. At about 17, 18 months, she had recognized all the alphabet, numbers, colors, and shapes,” she said.
