Drake may be the “Certified Lover Boy,” but his success in that area didn’t always translate as it relates to his sports. Popular sports gaming site, FanDuel, even went so far as to document Drake’s luck with supporting his teams in 2019. However, they haven’t been the only ones. With so much bad luck, fans and sports analysts alike have deemed his bad streak the “Drake curse.” Now, it’s safe to say that curse may be a thing of the past — especially with Drake supporting the Golden State Warriors during their Western Conference finals run.
Golde’s co-founder and CEO Trinity Mouzon Wofford’s entrepreneurial path has always been about calling shots on her own terms. Whether it be daringly reaching out to fellow entrepreneurs or standing firm in letting her brand grow naturally, she always goes with her gut. While her initial decision to not take venture capital wasn’t one that she describes as being backed by consciousness, it’s a move that demonstrates how trusting the process can be just as effective. As a young Black female CEO a part of a group that isn’t typically embraced by investors, the way her business unfolded ultimately worked in her favor. Not having to focus on the ins and out of the investing world allowed her to flip the narrative on its head of the effects of someone of her background being shut out of the space. It’s following the beat of her own drum that has landed Golde in the stores of big-name retailers such as Sephora and Target. View this post on Instagram A post shared by GOLDE (@golde)...

The Golden Globes has a whiteness problem, and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is here to change it. According to Variety, the HFPA — the governing body behind the popular awards — has announced that it’s unveiled a series of reforms designed to combat the diversity issue that is clearly plaguing their organization. In addition to addressing the diversity issue, the new Golden Globes reforms put limits on the gifts its voters can accept and the payment they receive for their work on committees. As of this writing, the HFPA has less than 90 members. Under the new proposed reforms, the HFPA will add 20 more members to their committee, with a commitment to specifically target and admit Black members. But there’s a bit of a fly in the ointment of these sweeping new proposals: they won’t be passed unless they’re met with the unanimous approval of the current, sitting committee. And there’s some concern that given the tone-deafness of the current HFPA, these proposals could...
