Former NBA Great Tony Parker Raised $1.1M For His New Wine Venture — 'I've Dreamed Of Being In The Wine Business'

Basketball legend Tony Parker is set to release a wine. Per Bloomberg, entering the wine sector has been a long held goal for Parker since he was 20 years old. “I’ve dreamed of being in the wine business,” he told the outlet. Born in Belgium, he first tasted wine when he was 17 and was able to explore his pallet after signing on to play for the San Antonio Spurs in 2001, where he furthered his wine knowledge through Head Coach Gregg Popovich. Parker would then dedicate summer breaks to visiting estates in France’s Bordeux region, k nown for its top quality wine, including Petrus, Cheval Blanc, Angelus, and Palmer, among others. “I used to ‘love’ to get them to open bottles of 1982,” Parker explained, according to Bloomberg. Glenda McNeal has been promoted at American Express, and she’s making history in the process. According to a news release, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Dillard University alumna has been named chief partner officer. What’s more, she becomes the first to take on the title, which follows the expansion of the company’s Strategic Partnership portfolio. McNeal will be responsible for managing American Express’ global sponsorships in travel, retail, tech, and media. “Partnerships have proven to be critically important to the growth of our company, bringing additional value to the products and experiences that continue to engage our customers and drive the generational relevance of American Express Membership. Glenda McNeal is the first Black woman to join the Executive Committee at American Express. According to Black Enterprise , over the years the President of Strategic Partnerships has lent her expertise across sales and client management, business development, and marketing and strategy at the financial corporation. Also, McNeal has overseen the relationships of Amex’s largest partners, including Delta, Marriott, Hilton, PayPal, and Amazon.
