Black-Owned Golf Equipment Company Renegade Golf Secures A Distribution Deal With PGA TOUR Superstore

Kenneth Duncan has secured a partnership with the PGA TOUR Superstore for his golf brand. Launched in Atlanta, GA, in 2019, Renegade Golf was born after Duncan saw a lack of diversity and innovation in golf marketing and country club environments, according to the company website. Duncan carries more than 15 years of experience as a golfer and nearly four years working as a management consultant for Accenture. He bootstrapped the golf venture and also tagged his business partner Drew McLeod for its vision, which formed initially as a direct-to-consumer golf bag company, Forbes reports. “A bag can really show off your identity and who you are—like an art piece. Renegade Golf favored well among Black Greek Organizations and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The brand overall caters to amateur golfers and...

Though the two don’t take full credit for Gauff’s athletic prowess, they acknowledge that their own experiences as athletes provided a solid foundation for understanding the dedication and discipline required to perform at a high level. Their support and guidance have been instrumental in creating the atmosphere for her to succeed. “I think it helps parents when they have played as high as college or even pro,” Gauff’s father told The New York Times in 2019. “You better understand the process and so you don’t get too jittery about it. How Queen Latifah's Wise Business Moves Molded Her $70M Empire

Queen Latifah is definitely responsible for a lot of “firsts” for Black female rappers. Queen Latifah was the first rapper to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (per Billboard, she achieved the honor in 2006). And her third album, “Black Reign,” became the first album by a Black female rapper to receive an RIAA certification, ultimately snagging a gold certification (per Apple TV). In short, the Queen knew how to give it to ’em at a time “they” weren’t sure they even needed it, and she’s more than a little responsible for rap music becoming the culturally dominant force it is today. These days, Queen Latifah is perhaps best known for her acting career thanks to the success of films like “Set It Off” and television shows like “Living Single” and, most recently,...

These Are The Top-Paid Black Female Athletes In 2022

Forbes has just released its list of the top-paid female athletes, and five out of the ten spots belong to Black female athletes. There were some athletes on the list that should be no surprise. Naomi Osaka and the Williams sisters, of course, would definitely be the top earners. But there were some new entries on the list, as well. And according to the outlet, it’s because for the first time, women in sports — and Black female athletes — are being taken seriously in their fields. “The world’s ten highest-paid female athletes earned a combined $167 million before taxes in 2021, according to Forbes estimates, a 23% increase over 2020 and a 16% jump from the prior record of $143.3 million set in 2013,” reports the outlet. “New money and new sponsors are pouring into women’s sports; it’s just that the dollars are being spread among more athletes and finding their way into new leagues.” That means it’s not just tennis stars like Osaka and the Williams sisters that stand to dominate the...

Naomi Osaka Tops The Forbes List Of Highest-Paid Female Athletes — Again

Naomi Osaka continues her winning streak. Forbes just released its list of highest-paid female athletes, and once again, the rising tennis superstar tops the list. The outlet reports that Naomi Osaka brought home nearly $60 million in 2021, more than every other female athlete on the list. The list also includes Serena Williams, who took the runner-up spot with a cozy $45.9 million in take-home pay. And according to the outlet, their handsome salaries are due to a new — and exciting — trend of capital infusion in female sports. More than any other year prior, sports insiders are saying that women’s sports are being taken seriously as money-makers. And this also means that other female athletes in different sports are also beginning to dominate the field. “New money and new sponsors are pouring into women’s sports; it’s just that the dollars are being spread among more athletes and finding their way into new leagues. For the first time in at least a dozen years, a gymnast (Simone...
