Memphis-Based CodeCrew And Code Fellows Team Up To Bring Rewarding Careers To Underrepresented Minorities

Code Fellows — an organization on a mission to help minorities find careers in coding — has partnered with Memphis-based CodeCrew School to help underrepresented minorities obtain skills in cybersecurity, ops, and software development. People of all skill levels and backgrounds will be able to receive industry-relevant vocational training to gain meaningful and financially rewarding employment which in turn will strengthen the local economy in Memphis. “As part of the CodeCrew Code School mission, we seek to increase diversity in the tech ecosystem,” said Eric Johnson, CodeCrew Code School Program Director. “The Code Fellows and CodeCrew partnership will allow us to provide a flexible coding curriculum and increase course offerings to our community. Former Googler Megan Gray Develops Health Monitoring Technology For Drivers

Megan Gray —  a former Google employee — has established herself and her startup, Moment AI, as respected names in the (Artificial Intelligence) AI startup world. Gray and the Moment AI team are on a mission to integrate health monitoring into the driving experience so that drivers can be alerted to potential deadly health episodes even before they begin to feel ill. Moment AI has participated in the Softbank and WeWork-backed Emerge accelerator . Gray has also spoken at NVIDIA’s GTC DC and several conferences about the work she and the Moment AI team are doing to make the roads safer for everyone. This 31-Year-Old Founded A Tuition-Free Public-Charter School That Plans To Open During The Fall

Jacksonville native Cameron Frazier has always dreamed of opening a school that he says is “for us and by us.” In the fall, his dream will finally come true. The K-5 Becoming Collegiate Academy (BCA) founded by Frazier will open in Jacksonville’s Norwood neighborhood, according to News4Jax. “It’ll be an option for all families to know that their kids are going to receive an education in which they see they’re reflected in,” said Frazier in an interview. “Every county in the United States needs this. Black kids specifically are missing out on a cultural experience in some places. And we are receiving an education that we’re not reflected in. NBA Distributes Second Round of $3M Grants to Create Career Opportunities in Black Communities

The NBA Foundation has announced a second round to distribute funds from its $3 million grant program to help generate more career and employment opportunities in Black communities as well as use its influence to drive economic empowerment. “The grants will enhance and build upon the important work of these national and local organizations that align with the NBA Foundation’s mission to provide skills training, mentorship, coaching and pipeline development for high school, college-aged, job-ready and mid-career individuals in Black communities across the United States and Canada,” the league told CNBC.
