Sean “Diddy” Combs has never been afraid to be a change-maker in the art world. Now, through his CÎROC Ultra-Premium Vodka he’s changing the game yet again. “The stories and voices of the people in our community should be celebrated every day of the year, not just one month,” said Combs, in a statement. “Through #CIROCStands, we’re showing everyone the Black excellence that drives our communities.” In the press release announcement, it was revealed that the popular vodka brand has released its latest #CIROCStands collection. This iteration will focus on what they’re calling “disruptive art murals” throughout Atlanta, New York City, and Miami, and they’ll be painted by emerging Black artists. CÎROC will be teaming up with Jordan Watson, better known as “Love Watts,” for this initiative. Watts curated murals that feature depictions of diverse examples of Black excellence such as actress Tiffany Haddish, celebrity chef Richard Ingraham, tailor to the stars Teheran Jones of Exclusive...
Cari Champion has always been a certified go-getter. So much so that before becoming an esteemed broadcast journalist and TV personality, Champion traveled across the country to pursue her dreams. After interning at local news stations, working as an assignment editor at Channel 13, and sending her resume tape to countless companies, the Los Angeles, CA, native received a call from a news director in West Virginia about a job opening, she shared in a previous interview with radio show “The Breakfast Club.” Despite the long distance, Champion jumped at the opportunity. “My checks might have been like $450 every two weeks,” Champion told the show. “I could’ve been working at a fast-food restaurant, making more money at the time. [The news director] he’s like, ‘We’ll give you the job. It’s a one-man band. You gotta shoot the camera yourself. You gotta edit everything yourself’… And I was like, ‘OK.’ That was it. And I packed up my Nissan Altima with whatever little things I had and...
Months after music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs announced that he was stepping down as chairman of Revolt TV, a music-oriented digital cable television network, the company has been sold to an anonymous buyer. According to TMZ, the Hip-Hop mogul sold all his shares in the company he founded in 2013 alongside Andy Schuon. However, the person who made the purchase as well as the transaction amount remain unknown. The outlet’s sources reveal that the purchaser is said to “share a deep passion for Black culture.” Moreover, a formal introduction of the television network’s new owner is set to be revealed in the next few weeks. While Diddy’s last order of business with the company is selling it, sources say that it is “an amicable deal” and that “everyone’s happy,” per the outlet. As previously reported by Variety, the rapper and record producer launched Revolt TV from the childhood home of his friend and former Bad Boy Records artist, the late great Notorious B.I.G., or simply Biggie....
For years, Victoria Monét has been behind the scenes penning some of the culture’s biggest hits for artists such as T.I., Chloe x Halle, and a host of others. Now, she is racking up her wins as an independent artist, showing no signs of letting up anytime soon. During the 2024 Grammy Awards, Monét was a force to be reckoned with, attaining seven nominations and walking away with three awards, including making history as the first Black woman to win Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical), according to The Hollywood Reporter. This feat hits close to home for the “How Does It Make You Feel” crooner whose entry into engineering emerged following frustrations from studio sessions she was having in the past. “The story of why I even know how to engineer is because I was working in a studio and wanting to record, and the people I was working with were getting sick of recording me,” she told Blavity in an interview earlier this year. If Sean “Diddy” Combs doesn’t do anything else, he’s going to invest in the future of Black creatives. With that said, the hip-hop mogul has officially put his monetary support behind Resources For Every Creator (REC), the resource hub designed with future visionaries in mind! Thanks to a hefty investment of $2 million from Sean Combs Capital, REC Miami is set to open its doors to continue the organization’s commitment to equipping creative people with the resources, communities, and opportunities needed to pursue their entrepreneurial goals.
Rick Ross has not been dubbed the biggest boss by playing it safe. Take, for example, his latest agricultural endeavors, which include the purchase of a cow, a lion, and a lioness, as well as two buffalos — gifted by clothing and underwear brand Ethika — TMZ reports. “We are gifting Ross these Buffalo after a conversation at his birthday party back in January. I wanted to get him a giraffe but he wasn’t ready for that commitment so he said let’s start smaller, like a cow. I said ‘Nah, everyone has cows, I want you to have something nobody in your state has, I’m getting you a Buffalo,’” Darius Burton, director of brand operations at Ethika, told TMZ.
With two decades in the game, Bow Wow still isn’t letting up on his hustle. In February, the rapper announced his partnership with KISS Colors & Care as its celebrity ambassador, as previously reported by AfroTech. Fast forward to a month later, he’s now the face of the Polaris Make Your Mark campaign, HipHopDX reports. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Slingshot® (@polarisslingshot) As he continues to work with brands, Bow Wow acknowledged in an interview with the outlet that his business ventures’ success is thanks to Jay-Z and Diddy blazing the path before him. “He’s definitely one of the [firsts],” he said in reference to Ice-T sharing in a past interview about Snoop Dogg being a pioneer of the rapper turned mogul pipeline. “I think what Ice-T probably means is this was the first gangster rapper; somebody who came up gang-banging and all of a sudden, everybody in America loves him. And we can credit him for that. But for, me JAY-Z and Puff as rappers in Hip Hop were...
Diddy owns Sean John again. Complex is reporting that the REVOLT capo and multi-millionaire successfully purchased the floundering brand from its former owners, GBG USA, Inc. “I launched Sean John in 1998 with the goal of building a premium brand that shattered tradition and introduced Hip Hop to high-fashion on a global scale,” Diddy said in an exclusive statement to Complex. “Seeing how streetwear has evolved to rewrite the rules of fashion and impact culture across categories, I’m ready to reclaim ownership of the brand, build a team of visionary designers and global partners to write the next chapter of Sean John’s legacy.” As fans of the brand are aware, Diddy initially sold 90 percent of the shares of Sean John to GBG USA, Inc., in 2016. Subsequently, GBG filed for Chapter 11 (business reorganization) bankruptcy, leaving the brand open for purchase. Initially, according to the outlet, about 45 other prospective buyers were contacted to purchase the brand. Diddy — real name:...
Throughout his career, Sean “Diddy” Combs has made an impact. And now, as his children make their way into the entertainment industry, we take a look back on that impact. From his early days at Uptown Records to his current status as a modern-day Hip-Hop mogul, Diddy continues to be “ all about the Benjamins.” In 2020, Forbes estimated his net worth to be about $55 million, the bulk of which came as a result of his investment in various businesses. Most notably, though, the outlet pointed out that the bulk of his money came as a result of the success of CÎROC vodka, which is distributed through his wines & spirits business and a partnership with Diageo. But that net worth number doesn’t take into account his extensive real estate portfolio, which is said to be worth upwards of $35 million, according to Realtor.com. And it also doesn’t take into account his recent deals made in 2021 — which are quite extensive, to say the least. He’s announced an R&B only label, an opportunity for...

For Diddy, it’s all about the benjamins, but he seems to be a man all about his family, too. According to The New York Post, his three youngest children — Chance, D’lila Star, and Jessie James — are making a splash on the fashion scene after walking in the Dolce & Gabbana runway show in Venice, Italy in 2021. The outlet reports that the young ladies were just three of the many celebrity kids that walked the runway on behalf of the acclaimed designers. Leni Klum (whose mother is Heidi Klum), Deva Cassel (daughter of Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel), and Luka Bale (whose dad is Christian Bale) all did their part to make the event one for the books. But Diddy isn’t just the father to these three gorgeous young Black girls. He’s also the father of three amazing sons, all of whom are making their mark in the world in their own unique way. Whatever else can or can’t be said about him as a professional, Diddy seems to be doing right as a father. And that “right” extends to their net...
