This Founder Spent 15 Years In The Advertising Industry, But Today She's Using Technology To Help Create Intricate Designs In The Jewelry Space

Lauren Harwell Godfrey, jewelry designer, entrepreneur, and founder of Harwell Godfrey, turned a hobby into a success story. Godfrey’s journey dates back to a career path where she sported several hats. She spent 15 years in the advertising space as a creative director and art director, collaborating with clients such as Adidas, Levi’s , and Ray-Ban. While speaking on the “Black Tech Green Money” podcast, she stated that this period in her career taught her how to communicate her visual ideas effectively. “I think that’s really served me well in the jewelry world because, again, I’m coming up with these designs. I’m not the actual bench jeweler who makes them,” she said on the podcast with host Will Lucas. Godfrey chose to walk away from the advertising space to nurture her spirit of creativity elsewhere. This led her to attend the San Francisco Cooking School and spend a year staging at Bar Tartine under Cortney Burns and Nick Balla, according to an interview with entrepreneur and...

Is Using ChatGPT To Write Your Resume Worth It?

Midway through the pandemic , in 2022, there were a small amount ( 19% ) of American workers who were working in jobs that were exposed to artificial intelligence (AI). Meanwhile, almost one-quarter (23%) of workers had the least exposure to AI. The remaining job industries varied with AI exposure. And while there are differing opinions about whether AI is taking away jobs from American workers or helping them to skip monotonous tasks, job seekers would arguably agree that they’d love to have an AI program that automatically filled in all of those little boxes in job applications. Even with a functional resume that focuses exactly on what the job description is looking for, some companies will still require filling out traditional job applications with your job history in sequential order. And this can quickly get tedious. Autofill sorta helps but not enough to avoid job seekers having to edit the automated info afterwards. So with all the extra work involved in using automated...

Experts Debate Strategies On How To Safeguard Deepfake Technology That Has Been Used To Promote Misinformation

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has increasingly blurred the line between truth and fiction. For example, deepfake technology is the creation of a video, audio, or image via machine learning that draws inspiration from a real person, as the U.S. Government Accountability Officer mentions. Examples of this include a fake Kamala Harris presidential campaign video that Elon Musk shared in July 2024 with his millions of followers on X. The footage included Harris labeling herself as a “DEI hire” and sharing negative remarks about President Joe Biden. “I, Kamala Harris, am your Democrat candidate for president because Joe Biden finally exposed his senility at the debate,” she said in the altered clip. The video amassed 131 million views, according to NBC News. Notably, it violated Musk’s own policies for X—acquired by him in 2022—which state, “You may not share synthetic, manipulated, or out-of-context media that may deceive or confuse people and lead to harm.” Deepfake technologies have...

Kirah Ominique Is Building An Empire For The 'Gworls' With Over 1.2M Supporters Amassed Across Social Platforms

When considering the “It Girl”, Kirah Ominique is top of mind. She had no intentions of being a full-time content creator. In fact, she had first envisioned attending an Historically Black College and University, potentially Howard University or Texas Southern University, to obtain a pharmaceutical degree. Although that did not become a reality, her Plan B was to always be involved in the beauty field. “I was supposed to come become a pharmacy tech first. Girl, I failed pharmacy math like, ‘Yeah no let’s go to P lan B.’ Now Plan B is Plan A, doing something in like the beauty field but a mix with the medical. Or maybe a traveling nurse wouldn’t sound too bad either,” she explained in a YouTube video posted in May 2024.   Ominique has stayed true to her interests in diving into the beauty world through content creation, which also encompasses fashion and lifestyle and has led to a strong social media presence. @kirahominique Get Ready With Me For Dinner In Thailand , Its Giving...
