Everything You Need To Know About Amazon's Just Walk Out Technology

Amazon has come under harsh scrutiny for its treatment of employees in recent years, from accusations of systemically shortchanging paychecks to driving employee injuries by urging them to focus more on speed than safety. It might not be a dream career path for the average American, but for consumers, the multi-purpose company is driven by efficient customer service. They’ve mastered the art of promptly bringing packages to your door, but now, Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology is revolutionizing the shopping world . Its capabilities are undeniably impressive, although not everyone is ready for the takeover of artificial intelligence. What Is Just Walk Out Technology? The first store to offer the Just Walk Out experience was an Amazon Go convenience store in Seattle in 2018; now, over 100 third-party retailers across the country allow people to grab their items and leave without waiting in a line or partaking in a transaction. “ They hated standing in lines in 1924, they hate...

How TikTok And A Pair Of Sneakers Led To The FBI Arrest Of 22-Year-Old Chozen Terrell-Hannah

Chozen Terrell-Hannah may have gotten in trouble with the law thanks to a pair of sneakers he wore on TikTok. The Detroit News is reporting that the 22-year-old TikToker has been arrested in connection with a series of robberies in the greater metro area. But there might be an issue with his arrest. According to the outlet, eyewitnesses to the robberies described the suspect as a white man — and Chozen Terrell-Hannah is a Black man. However, the arresting FBI task officer claimed that other eyewitness accounts of the suspect point directly to Chozen Terrell-Hannah. “Based on my training and experience, I believe due to (Terrell-Hannah’s) light complexion, the victims of armed robberies, observing him under the circumstances and wearing the clothing described above, could describe him as either white or Black,” the FBI task force officer wrote. Regardless, he’s being held without bond pending a hearing later today in a federal court. The charges against the star include robbery...

Joe Freshgoods' Latest New Balance Collection Captures Chicago's Black Entrepreneurial Spirit

Designer and Creative Director Joe “Freshgoods” Robinson has made a name for his Chicago-based streetwear brand by building authenticity within fashion. Over the years, the self-made entrepreneur has become the people’s champ when it comes to combining the essence of his local community with a culturally-significant message, and his latest collaboration with New Balance is no different. The “Outside Clothes” collection is described as bringing back the nostalgia of playing outside during our childhood, but it’s also a nod to Robinson’s creative process and the privilege we lost of actually being outside on account of the pandemic last year. The phrase “We miss when outside was outside” is used on some of the pieces from the new collection. It is a statement that Robinson believes to be a true sentiment for many people at this time. Photo courtesy of Joe Freshgoods “I didn’t realize until last year how much the act of being outside had played a major part in my career,” he said in a...

Amazon Could Open Up To 3,000 Cashier-less Stores By 2021

Amazon may shake up the brick-and-mortar store industry once again by opening 3,000 cashier-less Go locations by 2021, according to Bloomberg. The company’s aggressive plan puts convenience store giants like 7-Eleven and CVS at risk. The plan is in line with Amazon’s 2016 buying of Whole Foods in 2017. Since purchasing Whole Foods for $13.7 billion, Amazon has implemented a grocery delivery service in the stores for Amazon Prime users in an effort to target competitors like Instacart. Amazon opened its first Go store in Seattle in 2016. The company has since opened another store in the city and in Chicago. More Amazon Go stores are also slated to open in San Francisco and Chicago by the end of this year and into early 2019.
