A lack of views or following can oftentimes discourage people from creating content. However, after hearing this inspiring story, it may give content creators a big boost of encouragement to keep going.
In an interview on The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett, Paul Brunson, an acclaimed matchmaker and entrepreneur shared how the early stages of his content transformed into a life-changing moment.
Creating His Brand
How Oprah discovered Paul Brunson’s videos: During the time when Brunson was doing pro bono matchmaking, he connected with a client who just so happened to be a writer for O Magazine. At the time, Oprah wanted to develop a new TV show and wanted a “fresh voice.” Then, Brunson’s past client recommended him for the job. And the rest is history.
“Oprah was watching this YouTube series,” Brunson told the host. “When I always look at it, to me it is a powerful story because she ends up offering me a job to co-host a television show with her on her brand new network off of this YouTube series that no one was watching but Oprah, my mother and like two other people.”
“And I say it’s a powerful story about quality over quantity. Ultimately the who that’s watching is more important,” he added.
In 2012, Brunson went on to co-host OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network’s “Lovetown, USA” — a reality documentary TV series that worked to make Kingsland, GA, build a loving community.
Today, Brunson continues to create content and is an expert for “Married at First Sight UK.”
