Charlamagne Tha God can now add the word “doctor” to his resume.

According to the Black Information Network, The Breakfast Club host — whose real name is Lenard McKelvey — got an honorary Ph.D. from South Carolina State University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU).

McKelvey, who got his start as Wendy Williams’ sidekick when she was on the radio in New York, was very proud of his recent accomplishment.

“Couldn’t ask for a greater Mother’s Day Weekend,” he wrote on Instagram. “Giving the commencement speech at my mothers alma mater on Mothers Day Weekend while she’s alive to see it was surreal. Thank You God, for engineering my life, and Thank You @scstate1896 for the opportunity. It was an honor and a privilege!!!!”

Charlamagne Tha God is a native of South Carolina, so that’s why an honorary Ph.D. from a renowned HBCU in the area makes sense.

According to the outlet, Charlamagne Tha God is also very active in the community of his home state.

In 2019, Charlamagne Tha God went back to South Carolina to work with South Carolina State University, and his efforts launched a $250,000 scholarship fund for the university’s students.

In 2020, he helped provide free WiFi to Columbia, SC through a partnership with Ignite Cities and Elevation Church. This proved beneficial to the town which was ravaged by the pandemic and required residents to work and go to school virtually thanks to COVID.

And to top it all off, he hosts an annual Turkey Drive for the Thanksgiving holiday to help those in need in his hometown of Moncks Corner, SC.

Congratulations are in order for Charlamagne Tha God for this amazing accomplishment! We cant wait to see what he tackles next in his journey.
